I had an extremely troubling experience at Sierra Pacific Pediatrics, located at 12442 Limonite Ave #202, during my recent visit with my child. First, I was given the wrong appointment time and told my visit was scheduled for 1:00 PM. As a result, I waited outside the office for 30 minutes with the doors locked. To make matters worse, I tried calling the office multiple times throughout the day, but the phone seemed to be on automatic forwarding the entire time, even after my visit on 11/20/2024. The most upsetting part of this experience involved the billing staff, specifically Mirna. I spoke with her the day before, on 11/19/2024, to verify my insurance, and she assured me everything was fine. However, when I arrived, I was told that my insurance information was "not legible," and I was asked to make a $100 payment upfront. When I explained that I could not afford the payment and requested a payment arrangement, Mirna rudely stated that the office does not serve "low-income families." During the call, Mirna repeatedly talked over me and dismissed what I was trying to explain, leaving me feeling unheard and humiliated. Her statement about not being able to help low-income families was shocking and upsetting. Despite my efforts to resolve the matter, the staff refused to provide care for my child. When I tried to involve Dr. Lao, I was told she did not wish to get involved. This lack of advocacy for patients is deeply unprofessional and disheartening. As a physician, I believe it is her responsibility to support patients in such situations. I feel discriminated against because of my financial situation. The refusal to accommodate a payment arrangement made me feel unfairly treated, and the entire experience was unnecessarily stressful and humiliating. Thankfully, another practice, Mighty Docs, has been kind enough to accommodate my child, and I will not be returning to Sierra Pacific Pediatrics. I hope this practice takes these concerns seriously and makes changes to ensure no other family is treated this way. I will also be submitting a formal complaint with the medical board regarding this incident.

My son Tested positive for Covid on a Friday night and we quickly called and left a message for Dr. Chang. Dr. Chang was so graceful to call us back that evening and gave us a reassuring message and let us know what to look for before we need to be concerned. He spent ample time questioning my son’s condition to ensure that additional care was not needed.

My sons have been going to Dr. Chang since one of my sons was 2 years old and my other son was 4 months old… they are now 15 years and 17 years. I would never take my children any where else. Dr. Chang truly cares about his patients. He takes his time with each patient, never rushes and is always very thorough. He genuinely cares about each of his patients. Aside from Dr. Chang he has a wonderful staff. Both Mirna and Myra are two of the most helpful, caring and compassionate staff members. Mirna has always gone out of her way to assist me and my children whether with insurance issues, appointments, or answering any questions. She cares about the patients and goes out of her way to make sure the patients needs are met. Mirna goes above and beyond to help and assist all of the patients. Myra is also very friendly, helpful and willing to go out of her way to help. Myra is not only very warm and welcoming but extremely professional and knowledgeable. Thank you very much to Dr. Chang and his staff.
